Melanie Pelan Aalbers was born in Northern Ireland and moved to La Jolla as a five year old. Real estate runs in her family as her parents were home builders and hotel developers, owners and operators. Melanie's first memories are of walking building sites and taking hotel reservations at the tender age of four. After graduating from The Bishop's School in La Jolla, she obtained her BS in Hotel Administration from Cornell University. She worked in hotel operations with ITT Sheraton in La Jolla and then New Orleans. Loving New Orleans, she attended graduate school there and received her M.B.A. with an emphasis in finance and real estate from Loyola University. She then transitioned into the consulting field to perform hotel and resort feasibility studies nationwide before becoming an asset manager and owner's representative for several Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, and Westin properties worldwide.
Wanting to start a family, Melanie and her husband returned to La Jolla in 2002, where she returned to her roots and to a life in residential real estate. Coupling her background with her own successes in marketing, sales, development, and asset management make her an asset to any client. “Combining the excitement of finding the perfect home with the business skills of marketing and management is thrilling…I love what I do.”
Melanie currently resides in La Jolla with her husband and identical twin daughters. In addition to real estate, she is very involved in the local community. She is President of the Junior League of San Diego and serves on The Bishop's School's Alumni Leadership Council.
